One-Man shows
In addition to my writing projects, I'm a professional solo performer, having taken the shows Men Will Be Boys and Break Your Heart to New York, Chicago, Saint Louis, and numerous engagements in my hometown of Minneapolis.
Break Your Heart is a tale about love, loss, and an accidental trip around the world. It's also 100% true! I've performed the show in living rooms, on stages, and even once in a converted old brewery. If you'd like to book a performance of BYH or MWBB, click the Contact link and let me know!
Originally produced at the 2013 Minnesota Fringe Festival, Men Will Be Boys is an entertaining, yet critical look at how young men and boys are raised into institutional sexism, and how this treatment short-changes their ability to be whole individuals by presuming they aren't capable of behaving better. And perhaps there's never been a better time to deconstruct these issues.

In 2015, Men Will Be Boys received praise in both St. Louis and Chicago:
|
Chuck Lavazzi of St. Louis' KDHX says, "...Mr. Moore's stories have a moral, but they're skillfully woven and thoroughly engaging."
Michelle Kenyon of the St. Lou Fringe Ghostlight says, "This is an intriguing and very well-constructed production, with a strong performance by Moore... a show that makes a lot of excellent points and carries a very important message." Kevin Greene of New City Stage raved, "The transformation actor Scot Moore undergoes as he navigates a series of increasingly likeable and well-rounded characters feels profoundly personal. There is the unshakeable sense that “Men Will Be Boys” is not only a well-sculpted work of art but one that allowed the artists working on it to come to terms with their own faults rather than presenting themselves as flawless ambassadors of higher reason." |
And in 2016 and 2017 for Break Your Heart in Minneapolis and New York:
|
Theatre is Easy New York raves BYH is a “...deeply personal and inventive look into how having your heart broken can actually benefit a person in the end.”
Cherry and Spoon says, ”This one-man show is quintessentially what theater is about." Matthew Everett exclaims, “...f**king sonofab*tch, now I have hope.” and One Girl, Two Cities agrees, “...in the end, this is everyone’s story.” |
I'm also a member of Freshwater Theatre Company. Freshwater produces predominantly original, local work, and in 2013 won an Ivey Award for their production Freshwater Goes Back to High School.
I've been working in theatre for over 20 years as an actor, playwright, director, sound designer, and voice talent. If you'd like to peruse an abridged resume, hit the "Contact" link and I'll send one over. Thanks!
